I was getting into God's Word this morning, and came across 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, in which, even on Godvine's site when it was active, where people would use this verse concerning suicide. Since I am a firm believer that suicide does not nullify someone's salvation, I got to thinking about it, and started to check up on the meaning of these verses, since the interpretation contradicts what I believe about suicide.
Upon reading more about it, I found out a detail that many misses out on; "You yourselves" (plural). If Paul was speaking about each individual, he would have said "you yourself", but he didn't not say that. So, he is referring to the church as a whole. Basically, what the atheists these days are trying to do, destroy the church.
1 Corinthians 6:20 refers to the individual person's body, and that verse does not mention that God will destroy. Verses 19 and 20 explains why the sin of homosexuality, along with all other sexual sin is so destructive.

-- 1 Corinthians 3:16-17: "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."
-- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

Wow, Heavy, if those verses doesn't get a Child of God excited and full of hope, there is nothing in God's Word will.

That is good insight and fits hand in glove with other scriptures that tell us that the body of Christ is the temple of God such as in Peter's epistles..
Also, Jesus, being the chief cornerstone of the temple, is the foundation and if someone messes with the foundation by telling others that there are other paths to salvation, they are the one's being referred to as being destroyed. Which is why doctrine is so important and why the teachers/masters/tongues in the body of Christ receive the greater judgment/condemnation according to James 3.
