Yes, I firmly believe that the actions of a Christian can, and will, drive someone away from God. Not only by the words we use when witnessing, but also by the words, and actions we do on a daily basis. Think about it. Does anyone think that the westboro baptist church is leading anyone to Christ with the signs they hold up? I know that is an extreme example, but it is the truth. But the answer is, no. If anything, it is giving our God a bad name. Rather a bad reputation. When witnessing to an unsaved person, we need to be careful not to sound like we are judging them.
For example, telling someone that they are going to hell "if" they do this, or "if" they do that. It's not "what a person does" that sends them to hell, it is what they do not do, and that is rejecting Christ. So instead of a Christian telling, for example, a homosexual is going to hell for being homosexual, we should tell them that if they continue to resist Christ and His gift of salvation then, and only for that reason, they will go to hell. As for the living an homosexual life, that is something that that person will work out with God themselves. It is the Holy Spirit's job to convict them of that sin, not us. And the same goes for any other type of sinful lifestyles we live.
Sorry to answer so long, but that is what was on my mind about that question. It's sad, but true, we have to be careful when witnessing to someone, whether by words or actions, because we are pretty much walking on glass. One wrong step and it would lead someone further away from God.
