Question: If you turn off the ranking, do the thumbs up and thumbs down go away?

Should I allow people to comment on answers or just on questions?
Currently, when people comment on someone's answer, that comment is hidden until you click on "Comment." If I only allow commenting on questions (rather than on questions and answers) and someone wants to comment on a specific question, they'll have to address that person by his/her screen name (similar to the way it worked on GodVine).
Don't forget that we can try things and see if we like them. If not, we can always change them back.

About the commenting on someone's answer, I think that is an excellent idea. This way any comments directed to someone concerning the answer that is given will be directly to them, and not open unless someone uses the energy to move the mouse over it and click.
Aside from that, I see nothing wrong with this site. I love it. I especially love the thumbs up and down button. Many times on Godvine I wished they had a like button for the answers.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately and realized that the Bible does talk about competition and rewards. Here are some of the many verses that I found:
– 1 Corinthians 3:8: "Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour."
– 1 Corinthians 9:24: "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain."
– Revelation 22:12: "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."
[Note: The word "alms" in Matthew 6:1 ("Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven") means "anything given in charity," so it doesn't apply in this case.]
Consequently, I've decided to leave everything "as is," including the point system. This should be all right as long as people ask and answer questions for the right reasons, not just to gain points.
If you want to know more about the point system, including how many points are awarded for various actions, you'll find an explanation in the "Help" section, which is under the "Tools" heading in the lower right-hand corner of this page.

I'd like to thank all of you for your input.
As you requested, notafan, I turned off the rankings, so from now on, only names (and not points) will be shown under the heading of "Recently Active Members" on the right side of the screen. Apparently, that list is limited to four names, so I'll provide an alphabetical listing of all current members of this site in a separate question and will try to keep it updated.
According to my support person, we can search for people by typing their names in the search box at the top of each page. In addition, we can add our e-mail addresses to the "Profile" section under "Your Account" at the top of the screen so that other members can contact us privately if they so desire.
