I have read that there are 24 Elders who will lay their crowns at the Feet of Jesus, worshipping Him. But I "hear" people say that all of us will lay our crowns at the Feet of Jesus. Why is it naturally assumed that EVERYONE will lay their crowns, or rewards, at the Feet of Jesus? Don't get me wrong, if that is the case, believe me, I'd be more than happy to. I have no problem with it. The problem I do have right now, however, is that it seems to me that people are taking things out of assumption, even when the very same people criticized those who do that themselves. When they do this, they say that if the Bible doesn't say it, we shouldn't assume it. Go strictly by His Word. I agree.

BTW, I never assumed this, nor has it ever crossed my mind, until I heard the song that sings it, and hear other people say it. This was when I started to search the scriptures to find where it states that we (all of us) will lay our crowns at the Feet of Jesus, and time after time, I see nowhere it states that. Only the 24 Elders do this. Once again, I'd like to stress, I will have no problem if that is the case. In fact, I would be more than happy. But the assumption I have is the problem I have.

Question: "What is the verse about casting our crowns before the feet of Jesus?"

Answer: Revelation 4:10–11 is part of the vision Jesus gave John. In this scene of heaven, we see that “the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’”

Jesus promised various rewards for those who faithfully serve Him on earth (Matthew 5:12; 1 Corinthians 3:14; Revelation 22:12). Some of those rewards are crowns (James 1:12; 1 Peter 5:4; Revelation 3:11). These may be the crowns that John saw the elders lay at the feet of Jesus. In their words of worship, they indicate that, despite what they may have done on earth to earn these crowns, only Jesus is truly worthy of glory and honor. In the presence of the Lord Jesus Himself, all good deeds we have done will pale in comparison. A crown will seem but an insignificant gift to present to the One who gave His life for us (Galatians 2:20).

The elders’ response is most likely the way we will all respond when we receive our reward from Jesus. We will be so overcome with gratitude because of what He has done for us that worship will be spontaneous. Regardless of what we endured on earth, a priceless crown will seem a paltry offering, but it will be the best gift we can give Him. Although the Scriptures do not state it specifically, it is likely that we will all follow the example of the twenty-four elders in casting our crowns at Jesus’ feet.

Side note: One of the subjects I heard people say that we shouldn't assume is the subject of suicide. Though the Bible doesn't specifically address the condition of the soul of a saved person if they commit suicide, we should not assume. Also, another subject is pets going to Heaven.

The reason people/ commentaries say that we will be given crowns is because of the belief in the pre-trib rapture. Many commentaries teach that we are the 24 Elders. I do not adhere to this teaching. I believe that we are the people in revelation 7:9-17. Our number cannot be numbered (v.9). Also see 1 Thess 4:16-17.
If we get crowns that is no matter to me, but I feel sure / hope I would lay mine on my Saviors feet. Just to be with my savior and do His Will, to have a changed mind, no more tears and the like, is enough.

Do you think that some people have confused "casting crowns" with "bowing the knee," as in the following verses?

-- Philippians 2:9-11: "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

I would love to say no, that they cannot get the laying of crowns at the Feet of Jesus from that verse, because that verse clearly states that every single person that has ever lived, whether they believed or not, will bow down before Him saying He is Lord of all, but with the twisting of God's Words, it sure wouldn't surprise me.

Shirley, what you stated is also what I came to believe. And I also agree with everything you stated. The logic of "we are the 24 Elders" (which is the first I heard anything about, to be honest) doesn't make sense. If this is the case, then there would only be 24 people who will be saved, from what I can gather from this thinking, and obviously contradicts God's Word.

So the reason people teach that the 24 Elders in Rev 5:8 are us is because people tend to confuse v.11 with it and it seemingly does fit.

The 24 Elders are redeemed
"out of every kindred, and tounge, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priest: and we shall reign on earth." (v.9&10)
So this is where most commentaries fit us. These are listed before the seven seals of Rev. ch 6. Which would put us Pre-Trib. This seems to fit, but as you said, there are only 24 listed.
Then in v.11 , It says the number was "ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands".
.
But the error of this is that that number includes angels, beast, and the elders.

I have heard this preached numerous times on the Radio and other places. They reach for this verse to evade the "multitude that no man could number...they which came out of the Great Tribulation."

Please understand that the position I take is Pre-Wrath.

That makes a lot of sense Shirley. I really like how you put it at the end. And you actually stated in a way that I actually do believe, "pre-wrath". I have always been hesitant on stating a "pre-trib" or "mid-trib" because of the different 'sides' on it. But, as for the wrath, that I do believe it completly. I am so glad you stated it that way because now that it is bought to my attention, I am able to actually take a "belief" on the subject. I mean, I can actually see 'us' here when the antichrist steps up, and I can see us here under the one world government. But I cannot see us here when God is pouring out His Wrath upon this earth.

Regarding your side notes...
What determines whether a person goes to heaven or hell is not how they died, but whether or not their name was written in the Lamb's book of life or in other words they were born again. So suicide in and of itself does not send a person to Hell.

As for pets going to heaven, the Bible states that only man had the breath of life, or nature of God, breathed into him, for that reason, only man has an eternal spirit.

I agree with you about suicide 100%. About the pets, what you say makes sense, but since God's Word does not specifically say either way, I rather live holding onto the hope, even if a small amount, that I will once again see my sweet handsome boy, Bo, and my sweet girl, Buttons, and even be with the girls I have now, Babygirl, Roxie, and Saidee. Not to mention the other dogs I have had in my life, even for a short time. I know that when I get to be with God, it won't matter at all if they aren't, but for now, while I am alive, I rather hold onto that hope. I told God that I rather not know than to get a no answer. So, I told Him that I am NOT going to ask Him about it, and I still won't. A little hope for me is better than a "depressing no".
