Christmas started as a pagan holiday
I'm sure you have all heard that before. But I ask you this, should we remember the life of Joseph? What was meant for evil in his life God turned it into His purpose. So, yeah, Christmas may have started out to be a pagan holiday, but why wouldn't God use it to bring people to Him? If we would to focus on what Christmas is known by us today, this would be a great opportunity to share the gospel with people. Just has to get past this stupid Santa Claus thing. It is the same thing as Easter. It also is a perfect time to use that holiday to share the gospel.
Okay, I know, the dates don't match up, but I ask you this, does it matter? I mean, really matter? These are the times that our culture, in our time, has set aside to remember Jesus' birth, and His resurrection. So isn't the "message" more important than the time, or even the origin of the holiday?
I would like to add that if a person chooses not to celebrate these holidays, I see nothing wrong with it. The only thing that matters is the condition of our hearts. If a person is convicted to not celebrate the holidays, then I praise God for them. But if a person chooses to celebrate the holidays, and actually remember Jesus in those holidays, then I also praise God for them. In my opinion, it's all about Jesus, period. This is just how I see it.
